In order to be ready for your first day of class, please bring the following material with you:
- one-inch binder, with 8½ x 11" ruled sheets or a notebook;
- French-English or French dictionary of practical size. “Micro-dictionaries” are to be avoided;
- conjugation book, like the popular Bescherelle- La conjugaison pour tous;
- pencil case with pencils, pens, erasers, highlighters;
- USB Flash Drive, etc.
If you realize you are missing any material when you arrive at l’École de français, don’t worry, there is a bookstore on the premises.
The average temperature from mid-May to mid-June is 15˚C and it is 21˚C in July. For your stay you will need to bring: pants, shorts, t-shirts, sweaters, sneakers for excursions, a bathing suit and bathing cap, a windbreaker/raincoat, towels and toiletries. Mittens, tuques and a thick coat may also be useful on the river cruise.
Appropriate attire for sports and formal occasions is also recommended.
If you can play an instrument, you are more than welcome to bring it along with you. A talent show takes place at the end of the program.
Regarding CDs and portable multimedia players (iPods or MP3 Players), we strongly advise you NOT to bring your favourite English (or any non-francophone) music along with you. Listening to music in any other language than French would go against the immersion effect we strive to provide as a community. Instead download some French music to discover - teachers and factilitators will be able to provide you with recommendations.
Students must always carry their provincial healthcare card with them. Personal medical expenses will not be assumed by l’École de français. Please contact your provincial health service or your medical insurance company to determine the exact procedures you should follow.
Foreign students must provide proof of valid health insurance.
